What We'll Cover During Pet Exams

Each exam will cover the same basic elements, but we’ll tailor our services to meet your pet’s specific needs. Some of the topics we’ll cover during a pet exam include:

Physical exam

With a nose-to-tail exam, we’ll check the skin and coat for any issues, examine the eyes, ears, and nose, and perform a dental evaluation.

Weight check and body condition score

Obesity is a growing problem in our pets. We’ll check to see if they’re at a healthy weight.

Nutritional counseling

If your pet is over or underweight, we’ll discuss nutrition with you as well as exercise to form a weight management plan.

Vaccinations

We’ll go over your pet’s lifestyle and determine which vaccines they need to stay healthy.

Age-appropriate diagnostics

Pets can’t tell us when they’re not feeling well. With our in-house lab, we can run a variety of tests including complete blood work, heartworm tests, and more to check for any abnormalities.

Fecal exams

Fecal exams help us determine if your pet has any intestinal worms. Puppies and kittens often have some from their mother, so we’ll perform deworming when appropriate.

Parasite prevention

For ongoing parasite protection, we’ll talk to you about flea, tick, intestinal parasite, and heartworm prevention.

Behavioral counseling

Puppies and kittens can be prone to mischievous behaviors, but as adults, these behaviors can be destructive. We'll work with you to pinpoint the cause of your pet's behaviors and figure out how to address them.

Making Vet Visits Positive Experiences

One of our main goals during a routine wellness visit is to help pets have a positive experience at the vet. We understand that being in an unfamiliar setting with different people and animals can be stressful. To help curb that stress, we practice Fear Free care, which champions low-stress handling, positive reinforcement, and food motivation to encourage cooperation.

Our Fear Free trained staff can also more readily identify the subtle signs of stress and address them right away so your furry friend never becomes overly fearful.
