Advanced Veterinary Diagnostics in Upper Arlington, OH

A physical exam for your pet is sometimes not enough to develop a full profile of their health. That’s why we rely on our veterinary diagnostic equipment to help us fill in the blanks. Since pets can’t tell us what’s wrong, these tools give them a voice. We use our in-house lab, digital X-ray machine, and ultrasound equipment frequently to gain a more in-depth understanding of your pet’s health.

With our in-house lab in Upper Arlington, OH, we’re able to run tests in a matter of minutes and get the results immediately. A fast turnaround allows us to diagnose the problem faster and get your pet the treatment they need sooner rather than later. Our in-house lab has the capability to run the following tests:

  • Complete blood count (CBC)
  • Blood chemistry panels
  • Fecal exams
  • Heartworm test
  • Tick-borne disease test
  • Urinalysis
  • Skin scrapings
  • Biopsies

If ever your cat or dog is feeling unwell and we can’t diagnose the problem with a physical exam, our lab is one of the first tools we turn to.

Advanced Imaging with Pet X-Rays

Our digital X-ray machine takes images faster, develops clearer images, and uses far less radiation than its film predecessor. Cats and dogs can usually get X-rays taken without the use of sedatives, due to the ease of using our digital machine. X-rays develop images primarily of your pet’s skeletal structure as well as body cavities and are instrumental in the following diagnoses:

  • Fractures
  • Foreign body ingestion
  • Fluid build-up
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Intestinal blockages
  • And more

Live Images with Ultrasound

Ultrasound for dogs and cats is the same as in human medicine. It uses sound waves to create a live image on the screen. The benefit of ultrasound is it helps us see your pet’s organs and abdominal cavity in action so we can better assess if things are working—or not! We primarily use ultrasound to help us with:

  • Assessing individual organs
  • Diagnosing pregnancy
  • Locating an ingested foreign body
  • Taking a biopsy
  • Determining the direction and velocity of blood flow
  • And more
